Soft and silky hair. A dream. Well it is possible with some of the steps I am going to list below for you. Ranging from hair masks to hair tools you can use in the shower, I will give you some tips and share some of my favourite products to use which will show you how to make hair soft and silky and straight by the end of this blog post.

How to make hair soft and silky and straight (4 simple tips)

1. Use a hair masque

The use of a hair masque is always pleasing especially when it smells amazing. When your hair is frizzy it is a sign of dehydration (you hair is lacking hydration). Using a hair masque will help to bring those hydration levels back up to where they should be.

I like to use a hair mask at least once a week, and by far the Olaplex No.3 is my all time favourite. You can leave it for a minimum of 10 mins, however you can leave it on for longer. I use this before bed, and I leave it on my hair to ensure my hair absorbs as much as possible and then I rinse off with a shampoo and conditioner in the morning.

2. Use a heat protector when using heat on your hair

I cannot stress this enough. You need to be using a heat protector when using heat on your hair. There is no point in using hair masks, using a good shampoo and conditioner then not using a heat protector on your hair. The heat protector helps to protect you hair against heat. Heat damaged hair can also exaggerate the appearance of split ends and make it harder for your hair to lie flat (less straight and less silky).

This is my go to heat protectant spay. Not only does this add shine to color-treated hair but it also acts as a heat protectant for your hair. The smell of this heat protectant is gorgeous too. Let’s not also forget that Pureology formulas are 100% Vegan and free from Sulfates.

3. Use a hair serum

Using a hair serum has many different ways on how it can benefit your hair. It can help add shine, reduce frizz. Serums are known to lock down the moisture and moisturise hair whilst also ensuring it feels/looks smoother and reducing the brittleness. Using too much of a serum can cause your hair to feel greasy so applying a small amount mainly focusing on the mid to ends will be fine.

I love using this Moroccan oil on wet hair and on dry hair. Now I use this as it smells so amazing and because it helps to reduce the frizziness whilst making it smooth. I apply this to the mid-ends of my hair, so that the roots aren’t coated in oil which sometimes leaves my hair feeling greasy. I love this serum as it works on wet and dry hair.

4. Use a silk pillow

A silk pillow is soft, and due to this it creates less friction. With less friction there will be less frizz in your hair. The silk material allows your hair to glide over the pillow effortlessly, so you wake to up to smoother hair. The silk material helps to make your hair retain its moisture, since it’s not as absorbent as cotton fabric.

Since using a silk pillow, I wouldn’t go back to a cotton pillow. Not only is my hair feeling less tangled and more smooth in the morning, but it is also helping my skin due to its smooth material. I have got a silk pillow cover, which I simply just zip across my cotton pillow. I wash the silk pillowcase at least once a week.

That is all for now! I hope you enjoyed my blog post on how to make hair soft and silky and straight!
