Skinny tan, is a homegrown tanning brand, created by Louise Ferguson and Kate Cotton it was first originally seen on Dragons Den in 2013. Like most tanners, it can create a very bight orange looking tan with a not so nice smell once its developing. These two wanted to create a range of tanning products that would give a streak-free and less of a hint of orange, and so they created a large range of products for every shape, size and skin type.
What does the Skinny Tan Body Glow contain?
The Skinny Tan body glow contains Guarana, Acai and Capuacu (some of nature’s best ingredients), which helps the skin to rejuvenate and moisturise. The body glow, says it in the name, it helps to also give the skin a natural healthy-looking glow. Skinny Tan products are paraben-free, sulfate-free not tested on animals and suitable for vegans.
How do you use Skinny Tan Body Glow?
This is my own personal experience with this product. After a nice warm bath, and after an exfoliating session I use this lotion straight after. The smell is gorgeous and smells like tropical coconuts, not the horrible fake tanning smell. It is quite a thick lotion, so I tend to moisture in small areas first, just so I do not overuse the product. I will insert a picture below to give you an idea of the texture and consistency of the lotion.
Can you put Skinny Tan Body Glow on your face?
Due to Skinny tan’s natural ingredients, Skinny Tan says it is safe to use on your face. I mean, from my personal experience I have tried some of this lotion on my face, however, have realised for me that it is quite thick and heavy form face. My face is mostly oily, so having any kind of thick lotion, isn’t normally a good idea (otherwise causing me to break out in spots).
Does Skinny Tan Body Glow come off on bedding sheets?
For me, I didn’t find that this came off my bedsheets at all. The one thing for me that stood out, was the strong smell of coconuts when I woke up in the morning. Although the smell is gorgeous when applying the lotion, it can be heavily overwhelming when you wake up in the morning, I will say. So depending on whether you like strong smells or not, then this is entirely your choice.
How do I apply the Skinny Tan Body Glow lotion?
Here are my steps to how I apply my Skinny Tan Body Glow.
- Exfoliate my entire body and also shave (to where I will be applying the lotion)
- Get a generous amount of lotion and place into the ball of my hand and begin at the feet and work my well up in circular motions, ensuring it is rubbed in well
- On places like the elbows and knees, I carefully apply to these areas, and wash my hands with soap before applying to these areas to reduce the amount of build-up of any streakiness.
- I sleep with the lotion on throughout the night time, so as I stated earlier, you will wake up with a peachy like coconut smell, due to your body producing heat when your sleeping, but this is fixed with a shower when you wake up.
How long does Skinny Tan Body Glow take?
Skinny Tan Body Glow is a gradual tanner. Benefits of it being a gradual tanner is that you can choose how ‘tanned’ you would like to go. I leave this lotion on overnight (let’s call it around 7-8 hours), I wash this off in the morning. I tend to repeat this for another 2 more days to get the desired tan I want. Everyone’s preference is different, I do have olive skin and do love to have a deep tan, hence me using the lotion every night for 3 days. Whether you choose to apply it only once or even for 4 days, then it is entirely your own choice.
