TOP 3 BOOKS THAT CHANGED MY MENTAL WELLBEING
Practising self-care is important if you want to have a healthy relationship with yourself. Whether it be, putting a candle on and dancing to some music or perhaps just staying in one Friday night and giving yourself a warm bath to soak and relax into after a long week of busy activities and work.

Why is self-care so important?
Let’s not forget, self-care can help manage stress as taking a ‘time out’ can help reset your emotional health, reminding you that your needs are as important as what others may be. You can choose to give yourself a pamper session/detox as much as you feel like doing. Let me remind you, it’s not always about using beauty products though, it can simply be some meditation and yoga for just 10 mins.
What are the four categories of self-care?
It is said that there are 4 categories of self-care.
Below I have listed them for you:
1. Emotional
2. Physical
3. Physiological
4, Spiritual health
- Emotional
This category can be seen as feelings/relationship with yourself as well as others. Surrounding yourself with positive people, giving and receiving love and kindness. Treating people the way you want to be treated, and ensuring you address any issues/stress that can be controlled, to avoid a build-up of negative emotions and feelings. - Physical
This category is focused on the body. What you are eating, drinking, exercising and how many hours sleep you are having. The physical self-care ensures you to generally have a healthy lifestyle. - Physiological
Think of this as all in the mind. Training your mind to control the thoughts and feelings you are having (positive or negative) and realising why you feel them. It is all about having a healthy relationship with yourself and how you talk to your inner self. - Spiritual Health
Practising mindfulness and meditation. Practising gratitude of your life can also improve your mental wellbeing. I know of people (including myself) who listen to positive affirmations daily.

I have been getting into reading for over 6 months now. I wasn’t a big fan of reading but I got into self-help books. You might be thinking, what would a book of self-help contain… well literally self-help! Most self-help books are concentrated on how the mind works, and talks to us on how we can improve our lifestyle and our mental wellbeing. They tell us how we think, and why we react the way we do, for me I found this stuff so so interesting so since I purchased one self-help book, I kept wanting to read more!
1. Good Vibes, Good Life:
How Self-Love Is the Key to Unlocking Your Greatness
This was one of the first books on self-help that I purchased. I saw a lot of good reviews, and for many people, it changed their perception of how they saw things and reacted. I was one of those people to after I completed the book.
The book is written by Vex King, it contains his personal experiences in life, and the author shows you ways of transforming negative emotions and feelings into more positive ones. With the book, being so simple to read, I also felt proud of myself for completing the book (this doesn’t happen often at all).
This book for me is so inspiring, as Vex King also shares his own life challenges, from the moment when he was a small child and due to the Author wanting to share his experiences, it made me feel more connected to the book, rather than those books which are heavily science like content-based.
You can choose to have it like an ordinary paperback book, or if it is more convenient, then they also offer a kindle edition. This is an amazing book and I cannot stress this enough!
2. The Fear Bubble: Harness Fear and Live Without Limits
You may have heard of the author before, through a television programme called SAS: Who Dares Wins. Ant Middleton, has achieved what is known to be the ‘Holy Trinity’ of the UK’s Elite Forces (having served in the Special Boat Serice, The Royal Marines and 9 Parachute Squadron Royal).
Watching Ant Middleton on TV on the programme, used to give me the shivers as to how motivational and inspirational he is. The book however is so thought-provoking and powerful. At times through the book, I generally felt that he was physically talking to me, that is how powerful I found the book!
This books gives a series of life lessons that we can all learn by, I began to read this book when I felt like I had lost a little control of my life and felt lost. The book draws you in, and as said above, it makes you question things that are holding you back from achieving your goals and dreams no matter the size of them.
I cannot recommend this book enough, you haven’t got to be feeling lost in your life to read this, read this book no matter the current feeling/mood, it changed my mental wellbeing dramatically.
You can choose to read this book in an ordinary paperback book, or if it is more convenient, then they also offer a kindle edition.
3. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life
From looking at the title, you may be thinking hmm it doesn’t sound all that good. This book for me was different to many other books that I had read. This book was more of a harsher approach, it simply always asked you questions as to why you cared about things that you didn’t really need to waste your energy on!
The book was written by an author called Mark Manson, he has sold over 6 million copies. His writing technique for this book is very different as explained in the paragraph above. Mark Manson doesn’t sugarcoat anything in this book, and tries to train your mind into not wasting energy, on things that do not matter and to focus your energy on what does really matter in life.
In life generally, it is proven that we can sometimes get so wrapped up in things that don’t matter and forget to focus on the good things we have and should be thankful for. This book reminds you of that.
Again you can choose to have it like an ordinary paperback book, or if it is more convenient, then they also offer a Kindle edition.
That is all for now on this article! I hope you have found or learned something informative from my post today, for now, take care
