Scalp massages are a great way to stimulate your hair follicles. You can either choose to use your hands or to use a hair massaging tool, to do so. Some of us want thick hair, and this is a great way to get those hair follicles moving by stretching them. Not only does a scalp massage have hair benefits but it can also help to reduce tension headaches and reduces stress.
In this article I will be sharing the benefits of a scalp massage as well as a small routine for a scalp massage and how you can do it at home!
Benefits of a scalp massage
- Reduces head tension
- Reduces stress
- Increase in blood circulation
- Improves hair resilience
- Helps to spread the natural oils across the scalp
Scalp massage routine
I like to carry out a scalp massage once a week, using a hair mask. I will discuss my hair care routine that incorporates a scalp massage.
1 . Wash your hair with shampoo, and ensure your scalp is clean
2 . Don’t use conditioner on your hair as we are going to use a hair mask to cover our hair in. Place your hair mask from roots to tips and ensure your hair is fully covered in the mask
3 . Use a hair massager brush, and gently give yourself a scalp massage
4 . Take around 5 minutes carrying out the scalp massage using circular motions, and ensuring that you cover your entire scalp
5 . Leave your hair mask on overnight, or simply wait for at least 30 minutes before washing it off
For myself I leave my hair mask on overnight, to ensure my hair absorbs all the best nutrients which are given from the hair mask. The scalp massage brush I use is one from Amazon. It is made from a silicone plastic, so it can be used in showers and baths too. On days that I do not use a hair mask, I use this silicone brush to ensure my scalp is as clean as possible.
That is all for now, take care and stay safe!
